Happy 58th Anniversary to Mom and Dad! It was on the 27th, so I’m a few days late.
First of all, thanks for all of the well wishes! Our friends in California are justifiably unhappy that we are leaving the West Coast, but it’s not as if we are never coming back. And our family and friends in Budapest certainly seem very happy to have us come, especially since we won’t be imposing on them (as we have on previous visits).
Some people could not play the video we hosted here. I’m still working out the bugs of running flash operations from my server, so my apologies. Below the fold is a YouTube version of the same video.
Also, two other blogs that I am administering now:
http://www.freitag-farm.com
This is the farm from the late 1800′s and early 1900′s which is still in the family. I’m encouraging all of the relatives to get logins and passwords so that they can voice their opinions on the site for all to see.
http://www.n-gage-leipzig.com
This is my company’s first professional blog. It’s a photo log of a party in Germany last week. I think it turned out rather well.

Anyone want to buy Mom’s car? Low mileage BMW!

Regular readers of this blog will have no interest in the following, so I have put it behind the fold. Enjoy our new server!
So now that I have four months under my belt running my own server, things are getting interesting. Not only am I running three blog sites (steussy.com, rusz.org, and a Freitag Family Farm that is still in the planning stages), I am also running ftp and backup email services for Apogee Communications, six translation sites (a business idea that did not pan out) and now I will be professionally hosting a blog site for one of my clients. Cool stuff, no?
Well, when I started this, I ran everything on an old circa-2001 computer that I bought through eBay. I figured, if it was good enough for Google, its good enough for me.
Now that things are getting serious, its time to get a real server. I have one ready – 1.5GB of RAM, 80GB hard drive and a 3GHz processor. Not bad. However, the simple migration systems don’t seem to work. It looks like I might have to re-install my programs each and every one separately. At least I have an extra IP address to test things on ….
Long story short – I have a method to work on things which means we should experience very little down time. If you can’t connect for some reason, try again in five minutes. It should be back.
Server is coming down this evening. Everybody watch out! New server in the morning.
Your Sysadmin out

All four of them are pregnant and due in February/March 2008. One of them specifically did not want to be identified. Who is it? Who do YOU think?
I remember when this happened – I was in college.
Gather ’round kids cuz Grandpa Buzzblog is gonna tell a story.
Remember how your jaws all dropped the first time you saw HD-TV and realized how much better it was than crappy ol’ regular TV?
Well, your Gramps and his homies had a similar epiphany 25 years ago when the compact disc first emerged as an alternative to records.
What’s a record? ⦠Another story for another day, kids, lemme go on here while I still have the wind.
You see it was 25 years ago tomorrow to the day, Aug. 17, 1982, when Philips made the first CD in Germany. I’m gonna read to you from a press release now:
Exactly 25 years ago tomorrow, on August 17, 1982, Royal Philips Electronics manufactured the world’s first compact disc at a Philips factory in Langenhagen, just outside of Hanover, Germany. The invention of the CD ushered in a technological revolution in the music industry as CDs â with their superior sound quality and scratch free durability â marked the beginning of the shift from analog to digital music technology. The CD became a catalyst for further innovation in digital entertainment, helping pave the way for the launch of DVD and the current introduction of Blu-ray optical media.
Since that day Philips estimates that more than 200 billion — that’s billion with a “B” — have been sold worldwide, although I know that none of you young whippersnappers have bought any lately what with those iPod buds stuck in your ears all the time.
Anyway, I’m not going to drone on here much longer cuz I see you’re getting fidgety, but I want you to believe your Grandpa Buzzblog when he tells you he can remember hearing a CD for the first time as clearly as the first time he kissed your Grandma Buzzblog — not as fondly, mind you.
Original is here.

Being very busy today, so leaving everyone with this photo of Camilla from Tunde’s birthday party on Saturday.
