Happy New Year 2008

Monday, December 31st, 2007

We’re giving the kids a bath, will have a little wine and coffee, watch movies or play videogames. 50-50 chance we’ll be up for New Years. But, make your resolutions (we’ve made ours), stick with them, and may 2008 be an even better year for all of us.

Happy New Year, everyone.

Football Update – Week 17

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Dad wins the last week of football for the pool! I would have had a chance if Kansas City beat the NY Jets, but they lost in overtime.

Now on to the post-season – where I have the New England Patriots! Go Pats!

Visitors

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

A weekend of visitors here! First, Victor and Sari coming with their twins on Saturday. Baby fest in Temecula! Then, Marv and Brenda, whom we hadn’t seen in five years, come down for a visit on Sunday.

Great to see them all!

Quiet days. We never finish all of the Christmas presents on Christmas Day itself – though we do try to open all of the ones from outside the immediate family, so we can thank them for the gifts. We’ll take a few more days opening the last of the kids’ presents.

Big presents for us this Christmas: Dan-dan’s cool blue car (with a working radio!) and Camilla’s talking kitchen set. Gabi got an HD camcorder (well, a promise for one – we bought it over the internet after Christmas, saving $250 – it arrives next week). Ed got a digital picture frame from Gabi that did not work (or I couldn’t figure it out). I returned it, and have not decided what to do yet. I think it will end up being a copy of Madden Football for Xbox and a new hard drive for my laptop.

Most gifts were directed to our future six months in Europe: camcorder, a dozen travel guides, winter clothes for Gabi.

It’s so nice to stay at home with no threat of work coming in. Work is a good thing, mind you, but it’s very nice to have a full week completely off.

More as things happen … we’re expecting some visitors this week and will post photos. Next week will start the serious let’s-get-ready-to-travel preparations.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Decorating Cookies

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

We went to decorate cookies today. While there was a lot of help at first from ‘Bella, Calvin, Dan-dan, and Andy/Sunje’s kids, the fact is that everyone left after a cookie or three, leaving only Camilla. Camilla kept decorating cookies one after another after another after another. More than half of all the cookies done are works from Camilla.

A fun time was had by all. Good martinis by Chris, ham cooked by Norma, growlers of beer delivered by Ed. It’s a fun Christmas season – we’re ready for it now.

Football Update – Week 16

Sunday, December 23rd, 2007

Clean living and careful study of the statistics wins again! Ed wins the football pool, helped with a victory by the San Francisco 49ers.

Christmas Update

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

We’re finally getting ready for Christmas! Presents have been purchased and (partially) wrapped. Kids are getting healthy – Camilla is the only one with ill effects still present, and those are at a much lower level than before.

We’ll post photos of Christmas activities as they happen!

Welcome to Steussy.com!

We just sent out our Christmas cards, and most should be arriving now. There should be lots of first time visitors here (or folk who’ve looked at the site sporadically but are checking in for the holidays).

The site has been active for over six months now. Let me give you a tour with a few of my favorite posts:
