Friday updates

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Another week completed. Some big updates here. Dan-dan has now lost his first tooth, so will be getting a visit from the Tooth Fairy. Gabi has completed another set of rounds with the bureaucracy and the results are that the kids will start going to school in about a week. Ed’s business has settled into a slow (but not too slow) season.

More later.

Welcome to the world, Carina Li Thomas! She was born last night in Oakland to Dan Thomas and Hongli Chen. Here is what Dan had to say:

Carina Li Thomas was born at 8:37 PM Tuesday in Oakland, California. Mom and baby are doing great. This morning Carina was actively turning her head and looking around.

She weighs in at 7 lbs, 11 oz, and is 19 in long. These numbers are familiar to us. Angelina was 7 lbs, 11 oz, and 19 in.

Comments Temporarily Disabled

I’m receiving more than 100 spam comments every day at this point. I’ve decided to disable comments entirely until I can figure out how to get rid of them. Sorry about that.

Recovery Day

Monday, February 25th, 2008

Didn’t do very much today. Seems like the much anticipated slow season has finally started. Spent time with Gabi and the kids, did some accounting, chased after our missing piece of luggage.

One piece of news. Gabi called tonight to say that Dan-dan told her over dinner that his mouth was broken. She checked, and he has a bottom tooth that is wiggling out. Time for permanent teeth.

Wow. Growing up fast.

Back in Budapest

What is it that I do?

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Just a quick look at some of the items we designed for the Game Designers’ Conference here in San Francisco.

This 40 foot (12 meter) long banner was hanging over the main entrance to the Conference and came directly from my contractors through my laptop to the printer. It certainly surprised me when I first saw it!

These were two of 18 posters we designed for the show. They were posted all over the booth. There were only two or three pieces of artwork that we didn’t do in the main presentation area.

We didn’t only do print work. We also set up two websites to show off photos from various parties. One of them is here. Yes, it is on the same server as this blog.

Just wanted you to know that, yes, I am gainfully employed.

Kidnapped!!

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

I was working so hard at the videogame conference until, NABBED, by a pair of Imperial Storm Troopers! I screamed! I clawed! I got away!

Damn, this conference stuff is just HARD WORK.

Time Out for Blogging

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Yes, I am here. I am alive. Just really busy. I’ll blog when I am back in Budapest, but probably not before then.

Tourist Kids

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

I successfully landed in San Francisco last night. Today was spent meeting Carl and Robert and Carl’s fiancé’s family at a very nice waterfront brunch restaurant in Oakland’s Jack London Square. I need to take Gabi and the kids there sometime. More sailboats than you can count, and some very good food.

Aunt Babi (pronounced “Bobby”) has been taking the two older kids on adventures around Budapest. Lots of buses, subways, trams … they love it!

Here are photos from some of their adventures.
