Don’t click through to see the rest, unless you can really take it. These are good! And I am not a dessert kinda guy.
First on the list of desserts are Gabi’s Linzer cookies. There are both jam filled and chocolate filled varieties. We’ll have both kinds with our hors d’œuvres on Thursday.
Coconut Square recipe is for cake, dipped in chocolate, then coated with coconut flakes. Anikó has generously offered to bake these from her own recipe for Thursday’s meal.
Anikó will also be bringing her Charlotte Cake from another of her own recipes.
I’ve been told that a basic, sumptuous Apple Pie is also on the menu for after dinner treats. Eat all of your food now, kids!
DRINKS
Martini’s have been my drink of choice, replacing scotch, since sometime around the year 2000. I still enjoy one of these on most weekend evenings while calling friends and family around the country. We’ll be serving these with iced glasses, small onions and olives.
We’re a little short on drinks this year and focusing more on food. We hope our guests will all bring a bottle or two (hint, hint). However, I have been saving this one bottle of wine that we hand-carried from Hungary two years ago for a special occasion. We’ll open it with dinner on Thanksgiving.
For the non-drinkers, we will have ice tea, diet coke, Pete’s coffee (courtesy of Dan from San Francisco), real milk, 2% milk and generous supplies of water.
