Thanksgiving Dinner was excellent! Thanks to everyone who came. On the serving cart, we had the following: (Top shelf) Hungarian cabbage in the blue bowl, turkey (one plate dark meat, one plate white meat), Gabi’s fruit stuffing from inside the bird, rolls and Gabi’s stuffing from outside the bird. (Middle shelf) Dan’s cornbread stuffing, Hungarian mayo salad, spiced squash (!!). (Bottom shelf) sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes.
Not shown are the homemade cranberry sauce, gravy, apple pie, Lintz cookies, coconut pastries, Charlotte cake (these two courtesy Anikó), beer/wine/gin courtesy of Chris and Dan and lots of other stuff as well.
It was a great time!
in reference to our conversation this afternoon;
JANUARY 1966 — “Black Friday” is the name which the Philadelphia Police Department has given to the Friday following Thanksgiving Day. It is not a term of endearment to them. “Black Friday” officially opens the Christmas shopping season in center city, and it usually brings massive traffic jams and over-crowded sidewalks as the downtown stores are mobbed from opening to closing.[13]
