Welcome to the world Conner Knaggs! I missed him on his real birthday, which I think is Feb. 18. I don't have an email to confirm the date, nor do we have photos yet. But at least I got up a mention of his birth finally!

Friday updates

Another week completed. Some big updates here. Dan-dan has now lost his first tooth, so will be getting a visit from the Tooth Fairy. Gabi has completed another set of rounds with the bureaucracy and the results are that the kids will start going to school in about a week. Ed's business has settled into a slow (but not too slow) season.

More later.

Carina Li Thomas

Welcome to the world, Carina Li Thomas! She was born last night in Oakland to Dan Thomas and Hongli Chen. Here is what Dan had to say:

Carina Li Thomas was born at 8:37 PM Tuesday in Oakland, California. Mom and baby are doing great. This morning Carina was actively turning her head and looking around.

She weighs in at 7 lbs, 11 oz, and is 19 in long. These numbers are familiar to us. Angelina was 7 lbs, 11 oz, and 19 in.

Recovery Day

Didn't do very much today. Seems like the much anticipated slow season has finally started. Spent time with Gabi and the kids, did some accounting, chased after our missing piece of luggage.

One piece of news. Gabi called tonight to say that Dan-dan told her over dinner that his mouth was broken. She checked, and he has a bottom tooth that is wiggling out. Time for permanent teeth.

Wow. Growing up fast.

What is it that I do?

Just a quick look at some of the items we designed for the Game Designers' Conference here in San Francisco.

This 40 foot (12 meter) long banner was hanging over the main entrance to the Conference and came directly from my contractors through my laptop to the printer. It certainly surprised me when I first saw it!

These were two of 18 posters we designed for the show. They were posted all over the booth. There were only two or three pieces of artwork that we didn't do in the main presentation area.

We didn't only do print work. We also set up two websites to show off photos from various parties. One of them is here. Yes, it is on the same server as this blog.

Just wanted you to know that, yes, I am gainfully employed.

Tourist Kids

I successfully landed in San Francisco last night. Today was spent meeting Carl and Robert and Carl's fiancé's family at a very nice waterfront brunch restaurant in Oakland's Jack London Square. I need to take Gabi and the kids there sometime. More sailboats than you can count, and some very good food.

Aunt Babi (pronounced "Bobby") has been taking the two older kids on adventures around Budapest. Lots of buses, subways, trams ... they love it!

Here are photos from some of their adventures.

Thursday

This is the last "normal" night of work before heading to San Francisco. Talked to Big Dan and Gisela today. Work has slowed down, which is a great help.

The five of us were running around the city late this afternoon, trying to find the doctor who needed to OK the kids to start school. I didn't have a chance to meet her (we were running late, so I hopped on a subway to get the office), but Gabi said she was full of useful advice.

Tomorrow, we get internet installed in the main apartment. At that point, the office will be for serious work and during slower times I can still monitor the business and answer the phone/email from home. The connection won't be as stout as the office, since the monopoly holder in that district only has ADSL connections available.

I bought Gabi two roses last night from the all-night flower stand on Museum Street. Almost the only other person I run into when coming home is the poor soul running that late-night shack in the middle of the sidewalk. Selling flowers. Funny thing.
